Focus on BC’s Competitive Business Advantages and Tax Incentives through the International Business Activity Program
AdvantageBC today announced it has launched its new website – www.advantagebc.ca – aimed to provide businesses engaged in international business to and from British Columbia with the right information tools to make competitive business decisions.
The website has evolved from a primary focus on BC’s tax incentive, available through the International Business Activity (IBA) program, to a wider knowledge portal that explains BC’s many competitive advantages.
The new website platform will allow AdvantageBC to share international business news on a real-time basis, and provide members with important business and financial updates.
Website Features Overview
The new resources section specifically includes reports and publications that highlight BC’s international business and financial activities. In addition, the resources section features a Renminbi North America business portal to provide members with a better understanding of how to do business in RMB following Canada’s designation as a RMB Settlement Hub.
The use of China’s Renminbi (RMB) in international business is growing faster than any other currency in the world. Today, it is the fifth most used currency for international transactions. Within five years it is expected to be in the third spot behind only the US dollar and the Euro.
“Most of the country’s Canada-China trade passes through Vancouver, making it critical to provide valuable information for businesses looking to operate to and from British Columbia,” said Colin Hansen, President and CEO of AdvantageBC.
AdvantageBC’s new website also features a new events calendar, and an option for users to submit a recommended event will be launching soon. We will also be highlighting events that are focused on how to do business in RMB, tax related workshops, and other networking opportunities for members. In addition, we will be highlighting these events on our social media accounts, including Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.
Aside from its updated design, the new website is easier to read and navigate, enabling members and businesses looking for information on BC’s tax incentive program to find what they need quickly.
“One of our main goals when designing this website with Ballistic Arts Media Studio was to help our members get to know us better and learn more about who we are as an organization,” explains Talia Beckett, Director of Communications at AdvantageBC.
AdvantageBC International Business Centre-Vancouver was known as the International Financial Centre British Columbia, and the rebranding of the organization in 2012 reflected the growing breadth of its mandate. The term “AdvantageBC” not only conveys that this is a competitive place to do business, but that our participation by the specific sectors covered is to BC’s advantage. This is also re-emphasized in the new website design and navigation.
AdvantageBC’s website will be available in five languages: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and French.
